27 Siberian tigers’ "homecoming" road: High-speed rail diverted the nature reserve.

The staff in the reserve are checking the infrared camera. In the Sino-Russian border and protected areas, there are more than a thousand such cameras. Figure/Hunchun Northeast Tiger National Nature Reserve

At the National People’s Congress last year, General Secretary of the Supreme Leader, who participated in the deliberation of the Jilin delegation, said that this is a good phenomenon after learning that there are 27 wild Siberian tigers in Jilin. The key is to follow the laws of nature and do a solid job.

It’s two sessions a year, and the content of protecting the Siberian tiger has been reflected in the "Outline of the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan (Draft)", and the rescue protection of endangered rare wild animals such as tigers, leopards, giant pandas and crested ibis has risen to the national strategy.

In view of the difficulties in the nature reserve, such as the overload of the number of Northeast Tigers, the scramble for land by people and tigers, and the obstruction of migration routes by roads and railways, the relevant departments have formulated plans. In addition to expanding the nature reserve area, they will also start to open up inward migration channels and plan the return of Northeast Tigers to Xiaoxing’ anling and Changbai Mountain.

At 7 o’clock on the morning of March 3, Lang Jianmin stepped on 30 cm thick snow and got into the Woods.

He followed the footsteps of two Siberian tigers to the top of the mountain with a flame bomb that could be sounded when he was attacked by a wild animal, and a knife for self-defense. He found out their activities and went down the mountain after 8 hours.

In this season, hunters follow animal tracks and commit more crimes with iron traps. As the director of the mission center of Hunchun Northeast Tiger National Nature Reserve in Jilin Province, this is his busiest time of the year.

"The more tigers there are, the greater the pressure." Lang Jianmin said.

By the way, cleaning the iron cover buried in the snow aroused his sting. A month ago, on the mountain road leading to the gold and copper mine in Sandaogou, Hadamen Township, a Siberian tiger unfortunately stepped into the iron sleeve and died in the snow, leaving a lot of blood on its neck.

Although the final investigation results have not yet come out, it has reflected the embarrassing existence of wild animals such as the Northeast Tiger: even if they live in nature reserves, they still face man-made injuries.

  Return

  Hunchun has 27 "settled tigers"

According to the analysis of the images captured by the camera, it is finally determined that there are at least 27 Siberian tigers that are active in China all the year round.

In the IUCN Red List, the Siberian tiger has been listed as an endangered (EN) species.

According to public information, the total number of existing Siberian tigers may be less than 500, mainly distributed in the area from the Sikhote Mountains in the Russian Far East to the border between China and Russia.

More than 100 years ago, Siberian tigers were widely distributed in most areas of coniferous and broadleaved mixed forests in the northeast temperate zone of China and the Russian Far East.

In Lang Jianmin’s view, it was two catastrophes that almost killed the Siberian tiger. One is the deforestation during Japan’s invasion of China, and the other is the felling of trees to support the construction of the mainland in the 1950s and 1960s. With the disappearance of forests, Siberian tigers were forced to leave their homes and move to the Russian Far East.

At the beginning of this century, there were frequent news of the appearance of the Siberian tiger on the Sino-Russian border in the northeast. However, due to the lack of scientific and systematic investigation and study, the number and current situation of the tiger and leopard population in China became an unsolved mystery.

Since 2006, the National Biodiversity Innovation Team of Beijing Normal University (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Normal University Team"), under the leadership of Ge Jianping, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the NLD and vice president of the school, has established the largest single regional infrared camera monitoring network in the world, mainly from the Sino-Russian border in Hunchun to the northeast inland of China, with a sample area of more than 20,000 square kilometers.

Feng Limin, a student of Ge Jianping, Ph.D. in Ecology, School of Life Sciences, Beijing Normal University, said that they first laid more than 300 kilometers of border transects along the Sino-Russian border to observe the cross-border situation of the Northeast Tiger and Leopard, and then arranged more than 1,200 infrared cameras in a grid with a distance of 3 kilometers multiplied by 3 kilometers.

Through the comparison of the unique patterns on the body of the tiger and leopard, each individual of the Northeast Tiger and the Northeast Leopard can be scientifically and accurately identified, and at the same time, the time, space and other activity rules and information of the tiger and leopard can be collected.

In the end, the camera captured authoritative data: in the whole monitoring area, only the Northeast Tiger population was found in Hunchun National Nature Reserve of Jilin Province and its surrounding areas, from 2012 to — During 2014, at least 27 Siberian tigers were active, including 10 males, 8 females and 9 larvae.

At least 42 Amur leopards, including 20 males, 17 females and 5 larvae. This number has exceeded the reported total number of remaining Amur leopards in Russia.

The observation data also show that the Siberian tiger occasionally appears in Wandashan Mountain, Heilongjiang Province, which is a wandering type and has no stable population.

On November 6, 2013, researchers from Beijing Normal University saw an exciting scene. In the night, No.05 adult female Northeast Tiger walked leisurely through the camera, followed by her 3-month-old cubs, who paused and looked at the camera curiously.

This is the first time in the world that a wild Siberian tiger has produced four cubs from one birth.

"Breeding means that the Northeast Tiger can breed, settle down and form a population in Hunchun area." Feng Limin said.

  settle down

Migration is blocked and habitat becomes an "island"

"The only way for the tiger and leopard population to survive and develop in the future is to enter the vast forests in the northeast inland of China to the west."

The most fundamental reason for the return of the Northeast Tiger is the restoration of forest vegetation.

According to the analysis of the team of Beijing Normal University, the natural forest protection project implemented in China in 1998 has made the forest quality in the main forest areas in Northeast China recuperate, and the main prey of tigers, such as red deer, sika deer, wild boar and roe deer, are also recovering rapidly. Last year, Jilin and Heilongjiang completely stopped commercial logging of timber, which laid a more solid foundation for the return and reproduction of the Northeast Tiger.

On the distribution map drawn by the team of Beijing Normal University, the activity area of Northeast Tiger is marked as orange, but it looks like an island.

This orange-red area, including the long and narrow Hunchun nature reserve in the north and south, covers an area of only 1,087 square kilometers, and together with the Russian Leopard National Park bordering it, it covers an area of about 4,000 square kilometers.

The team of Beijing Normal University also found that with the proliferation and increase of tigers and leopards, this area was temporarily overloaded.

"Adult tigers need an average of 5 kilograms of pure meat a day, including many larvae. The bigger the larvae grow, the greater their appetite. If they can’t find a suitable habitat to spread out, they will compete for food." Feng Limin said.

Ge Jianping introduced that the Northeast Tiger has the characteristics of outward development wave after wave in the territory, and there is no jumping. According to Russia’s long-term follow-up study, the average territory of a female tiger is 300 to 500 square kilometers, and the male tiger can often reach thousands of square kilometers. It patrols its territory every day, basically walking 10 to 20 kilometers, but in the northeast, the natural density of its prey is not high, so it needs more territory.

"In Hunchun, it is very good to accommodate 8-10, but now there are just more than 20, which is more than 3 times the carrying capacity and is all squeezed here." Feng Limin said.

Why are these Siberian tigers squeezed in this "isolated island" area?

Dr. Feng Limin analyzed that the East and South of the region is the Sea of Japan; The northern part is blocked by a large area of wetlands, highways and railways in the Middle East, which separates it from the main habitat of Siberian tigers in Russia-the Sihot Mountains; The S201 provincial highway in the east runs along the west side of Hunchun Nature Reserve, from Hunchun to Dongning, Heilongjiang Province. The highway, frequent shuttle cars, villages, farmhouses and factories on both sides form an artificial barrier.

"The only way for the tiger and leopard population to survive and develop in the future is to enter the vast forests in the northeast inland of China to the west, but we must first break through the barrier S201." Feng Limin said.

  conflict

The battle between man and tiger in the protected area

Some villagers think that tigers are rare animals and should be well protected, while others say that tigers should be driven away.

S201 Provincial Highway and the activities of people along it are like a wall, blocking the way for tigers and leopards to move westward.

According to the latest data provided by Hunchun Nature Reserve, there are 19 villages, more than 2,200 households and more than 6,300 people in the reserve. According to the statistics of remote sensing analysis, there are more than 800 hectares of land in the reserve, and there are 35 contracted ditch systems for forest frogs. In addition, there are about 40,000 grazing cows every year.

This set of data does not include the unprotected area west of S201 Highway, but butch and leopard have spread to this area.

Located in Sandaogou Village, Hadamen Township, on the west side of S201 Highway, villagers can intuitively feel the contradiction between man and tiger.

In the summer of 2015, villager Xing Yanfen raised more than 80 Yanbian yellow cattle, which is the largest farmer in the village. During the inventory, 11 cows were found missing, and the remains of 4 of them were found, all of which were killed by tigers.

Villagers generally adopt the method of free-range. Every year, starting from May, they catch the cattle in the mountains, count them once every two weeks, feed them with salt, and then take them back to the village for captivity when the weather turns cold in October.

After the incident, in order to find the missing cattle and prevent the Northeast Tiger from committing crimes, Xing Yanfen followed her husband and drove around the driveway pulling wood almost every other day, setting off firecrackers all over the mountains to scare the Northeast Tiger away from the cattle.

Xing Yanfen said that they have not received compensation so far. "People in the reserve said that compensation can only be given if animal carcasses are found."

She lost more than 100 thousand for this, complaining that "people rely on mountains to eat mountains, and life is not good."

Zhang Yanlin, a villager, said that one of his cattle was missing, and his body could not be found, so he could not claim compensation. After the tiger committed a crime last year, many villagers in Sandaogou village sold their cattle and sheep.

Lang Jianmin, director of the Propaganda Center of Hunchun Northeast Tiger National Reserve, believes that grazing will lead to many threats. For roe deer, sika deer and wild boar, cattle have completely destroyed the surface vegetation and wild animals have nothing to eat; There are fewer wild animals and fewer tigers; Hungry tigers will also take risks and attack livestock. In Hunchun, there are more than 100 incidents of tigers hurting livestock every year.

"It is difficult for ordinary people to understand the contradiction between man and tiger." Lang Jianmin deeply felt that the most terrible thing is that livestock carry infectious diseases, which will be a devastating blow to the Siberian tiger if it is careless.

However, the growers’ participation in the meeting destroyed the surface, and Hunchun’s "ginseng under the forest" naturally grew in the Woods, with little impact. However, to plant "garden ginseng", a forest must be cut down and planted in a plastic shed. When the contract period expires, nothing grows, resulting in desertification.

For the Siberian tiger, the most direct threat is "hidden weapons", and these hidden "condoms" are everywhere in the forest.

Villagers in Sandaogou can still remember that more than ten years ago, a wild Siberian tiger was trapped by a condom, broke free and killed Yang Chunyan, a young female worker in the local forest farm. The tiger also died of injuries. After this incident was reported at that time, the "dispute between people and tigers" also attracted widespread attention.

Cleaning up "condoms" has become a fixed action of the local protection department. From September last year to January this year alone, Hunchun Nature Reserve cleared 8250 "condoms" and clips. During the same period, 80,097 hunting tools of various types were cleared and collected in Jilin Province, and 268 illegal cases and 314 offenders were investigated.

Although the staff of the nature reserve have repeatedly posted posters to protect wild animals in various villages and conducted lectures on environmental protection knowledge, the results have been minimal. Some villagers think that tigers are rare animals and should be well protected, while others say that tigers should be driven away.

High-speed rail diverted to the protected area

"Northeast Tiger and Northeast Leopard will become the soul of Jilin’s green transformation." This sentence by Bayin Chaolu, secretary of the provincial party committee, impressed Ge Jianping deeply.

Faced with the "islanding" of the Northeast Tiger and the dispute between humans and tigers in the nature reserve, Ge Jianping found the protection problem more and more difficult.

In fact, Ge Jianping and his team have been keeping a low profile for ten years in Hunchun. Even in 2007 and 2010, they took the first photos of wild Siberian tigers and leopards in natural state in China, but he didn’t let these explosive news spread.

He feels that the scientific research data is not solid enough, and he is also worried that too much publicity will cause humans to disturb the Northeast Tiger. However, in 2015, with the deepening of research, Ge Jianping felt that "the country must take the shot, otherwise it will miss the opportunity."

So Ge Jianping contacted Bayin Chaolu, secretary of Jilin Provincial Party Committee.

Ge Jianping recalled that on the same day, at the entrance of the conference room, Bayin Chaolu had two important meetings and only promised to give Ge Jianping a maximum of five minutes to report.

Ge Jianping said that one minute is enough. He only said one sentence: "Your family has 27 tigers and 42 leopards. Do you care?"

Ge Jianping said that the secretary of the provincial party Committee looked at him in surprise. "Ah, no one told me." Then he postponed other meetings, listened to his report all morning, and instructed the director of the provincial development and reform commission to come to the meeting immediately.

As a result, Ge Jianping showed data and demonstration materials that have never been published in the past 10 years.

At this time, the development strategy of Jilin Province is to strengthen wetland protection in the west, develop industry in the middle and make green transformation in the east, but it has not found a "grasping hand" in the east. Ge Jianping was deeply impressed by the words of Bayin Chaolu. "The Northeast Tiger and Leopard will become the soul of Jilin’s green transformation."

At the subsequent National People’s Congress, the General Secretary of the Supreme Leader participated in the deliberation of the Jilin delegation. After learning that there are 27 wild Siberian tigers in Jilin, the Supreme Leader said that this is a good phenomenon. The key is to follow the laws of nature and do a solid job.

Not long after, the General Office of the Central Committee urged Ge Jianping to submit detailed suggestions before the end of May. Chen Xiaoguang, vice chairman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and executive vice chairman of NLD Central Committee, personally led a team to conduct in-depth investigation and summary.

In this survey, Ge Jianping and Chen Xiaoguang accidentally learned that Hunchun will invest more than 20 billion yuan to build "two highs": the expressway from Hunchun to Dongning is roughly parallel to the provincial highway S201, and the National Development and Reform Commission has established a project; The high-speed train from Hunchun to Vladivostok, Russia, will pass through the reserve and will be signed soon.

Ge Jianping was disheartened by this news, but after deliberation, the two decided to rush to Changchun immediately to find Bayin Chaolu, secretary of the provincial party committee, to reflect the situation.

After that, Jilin Province decided to cancel the original highway construction, while the high-speed rail was diverted.

On the Proposal on Implementing Major Ecological Projects for the Restoration and Protection of the Northeast Tiger and the Northeast Leopard in China submitted by the Central Committee of the Democratic League, the General Secretary of the Supreme Leader instructed: "The return of the wild Northeast Tiger and the Northeast Leopard to the Northeast reflects that China has achieved positive results in wildlife protection in recent years. We should seize the current favorable conditions, follow the laws of nature, improve our thinking, make innovative breakthroughs, and do a good job in wildlife protection. The relevant requirements can be reflected in ‘ Thirteenth Five-Year Plan ’ Planning proposal ".

  blueprint

Plan the Northeast Tiger to Return to Xiaoxing ‘anling.

According to the protection plan, a tiger and leopard distribution area with an area of over 20,000 square kilometers will be built in China.

How to break the "isolated island" of Northeast Tiger and Northeast Leopard?

On January 27th, 2016, the seminar on the protection strategy of China Northeast Tiger and Northeast Leopard, jointly organized by the NLD Central Committee and Jilin Provincial Government, presented a blueprint for protection.

The trilogy of the blueprint is as follows: within this year, the national nature reserves of Hunchun and Wangqing in Jilin Province and their surrounding areas will be connected into a whole, and a protected area with a continuous forest landscape of 6,000 square kilometers will be built; By 2020, an area of more than 20,000 square kilometers will be built in China, which will carry more than 100 Siberian tigers and 200 Siberian leopards; Set out to plan the action of tiger and leopard returning to Changbai Mountain and Xiaoxing ‘anling.

They invited senior experts to "pick holes".

"Where do immigrants move? After the immigrants in the Three Gorges reservoir area, the survival of these people is also a problem. There are people who don’t immigrate in that area and live in a very fearful environment all day. How to consider it? " Fang Jingyun, an academician of the China Academy of Sciences and an ecologist, bluntly said, "It is my concern to affect more things just to expand the population or for a project."

Zhang Zhibin, a researcher at the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and chairman of the International Zoological Society, agreed that the integration of large protected areas should be given priority in the construction of protected areas. However, in order to prevent the spread of diseases, isolation belts are needed in the integration.

"If you can’t solve the livelihood of the people, they will reach out and ask for it from nature. This is the core." Dr. Feng Limin, a student of Ge Jianping, said.

There are still more intractable problems in this area. Hunchun Northeast Tiger Nature Reserve has been listed in the national level, but it is still an enterprise, and it can only be operated with the support of Hunchun Forestry Bureau. The annual personnel expenses and management expenses are around 3 million. After Jilin Province stopped all-round logging last year, the shortage of funds became prominent.

In addition, enterprises do not have the power of administrative law enforcement. "It is difficult to file a case for the general destruction of wildlife that does not constitute a criminal case, and it is difficult to punish it, which weakens the authority of protection work." Lang Jianmin, director of the Nature Reserve Publicity Center, said.

According to the website of the State Forestry Administration, at the end of February this year, Chen Fengxue, deputy director of the State Forestry Administration, conducted an investigation on the system reform of Yanbian National Park and the protection of the Northeast Tiger, accompanied by Director Yan Zhen of the Financial Planning Department. Many sources believe that the national park will be planned with the theme of Tiger and Leopard.

Lang Jianmin believes that national parks are new things, and the key to crossing the river by feeling the stones is to solve the problem of poor system.

On March 5th, Ge Jianping told the Beijing News reporter that the "Outline of the 13th Five-Year Plan (Draft)" put forward the concepts of biodiversity and rescue protection project for the first time, which is a milestone and the key to the construction of ecological civilization. "The comprehensive protection of single animals and plants and biodiversity can explain that ecology, survival and life are indispensable, and it is the interdependence between man and nature, and it is necessary to take the eco-economic development model."

Who acts under their real names? Both Hu Ge and Chen Yirong have used them, and all five of his works use their real names

In many film and television dramas, some actors use their real names instead of character names.

In some movies and TV dramas, the actors’ real names are used to increase authenticity and credibility, making the audience more immersive while watching; in others, the actors’ real names are used as a small burden in movies and TV dramas, adding drama and a sense of humor to amuse the audience. Let’s see who has ever used their real names instead of character names?

Zhang Yimou’s "No One Less" is based on Shi Xiangsheng’s novel "There is a Sun in the Sky" and tells a simple but touching story. Wei Minzhi, a substitute teacher in rural areas, adheres to the belief that "no one can be missing". After learning that a student Zhang Huike dropped out of school and went to work in the city, she embarked on the road to the city alone to find people.

All the characters in the film are amateur actors. Zhang Yimou interviewed more than 20,000 actors to find a better fit for the role, and finally selected Wei Minzhi. Except for Wei Minzhi, other actors also use their real names in the film, and most of the actors’ identities in the film are also the same as their real identities.

It is worth mentioning that after the filming of the film, Wei Minzhi and Zhang Huike have been sponsored by kind people to go to school, so that they can successfully complete their studies. Wei Minzhi was later admitted to the Western Film and Television Media School of Xi’an Foreign Studies University and went to the United States to study.

"My name is Hu Ge, and I’m from Shanghai," Mr. Hu said in a cameo on the medical drama "Surgery." He himself was born in Shanghai, and that line fits with the truth about himself.

Previously, in the TV series "Xuanyuan Sword", Chen Jingchou also cued Hu Ge: "I really don’t know the person named Gu Yue, but there is a person named Hu Ge who is a heartthrob in the village."

In the movie "Pancake Man," Dapeng’s character, Dapeng, is an actor who has fallen to the bottom of his life due to an accident. In order to save his life, he has to find many big-name stars to make movies with. The stars’ failure to make an appointment left him in a state of extreme anxiety. A series of ironic stories ensued.

In this movie, Liu Yan, Wu Junru, Zeng Zhiwei, Yue Yunpeng, Deng Chao and others all starred under their real names.

In Deng Chao’s self-directed romantic comedy "Breakup Master", Deng Chao’s "breakup master" Mei Yuangui and Beipiao’s tough female man Ye Xiaochun staged a "dumbest but touching romantic comedy in history". Deng Chao and Yang Mi’s combination is novel and very suitable, and both of them are very open-minded and contribute a lot of famous scenes. The whole film is very dense, and the audience laughs from time to time. Eagle-eyed audiences must have also seen the figure of "Empress" Sun Li in the movie. She plays Sun Li, and she is also an actress.

"Stars in the Snow" is a youth idol drama starring He Rundong, Chen Yirong, Qiu Ze, Hu Yaping, etc. It mainly tells the poignant love story between a girl and a terminally ill painter.

The heroine’s name was Chen Yirong. The storyline seemed rather old-fashioned now, involving siblings, the relationship between the two families, cancer and other factors, but the combination of handsome men and beautiful women was still very eye-catching.

None of the above are as powerful as Jiang Chao, who used his real name in five movies and TV dramas. The five movies and TV dramas are "Summer Sweetheart", "One Night in Chengdu", "Run Away Sweetheart", "Rush Bar Otaku" and "Youth Hormones".

In 2010, Jiang Chao participated in the Hunan Satellite TV idol talent show "Happy Male Voice" and successfully advanced to the top 20 in the country. Jiang Chao also captured a large number of fans with his elegant looks and gentle and affectionate voice.

After his debut, many cast members threw olive branches to Jiang Chao because of his outstanding appearance. Jiang Chao also starred in films and television dramas such as "Tiny Times", "Summer of the Fox", "Little Dog Season 3", "Lust Game" and "Female Prince", but he was always tepid. Although his career was not satisfactory, Jiang Chao’s love life was still very happy. Jiang Chao’s wife is a Xinjiang actress – Madina, two people are talented and beautiful, and their relationship is very harmonious. After marriage, a family of four is also happy and sweet!

Hu Ge, Chen Yirong, and others have all used their real names instead of character names. Do you know any actors who use their real names directly in their works?

Chinese Academy of Sciences issues online children’s English report: Head enterprises occupy 80% of the market.

BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) Recently, the Key Laboratory of Big Data Mining and Knowledge Management of the Chinese Academy of Sciences released the White Paper on Online English Education for Children in China in 2017. According to the report, online English education for children in China is spreading its influence around the world, covering 35 countries and regions around the world. Except for China, Japanese, Canadian and American have the largest number of young students who use the services of educational enterprises in China.

In the domestic market, first-tier cities such as Beishangguangshen and Shenzhen have become the main force in the online children’s English education market. The three major brands have divided 80% of the domestic market, and VIPKID has a 55% market share; Domestic students tend to be younger, with an average age of about 6 years old. Most parents are willing to spend more than 10,000 yuan a year for this, and 70% parents are willing to choose North American foreign teachers with pure accents and lively teaching.

The data also shows that the total daily class hours of online children’s English education in China have exceeded 100,000. From this calculation, parents in China saved 146 million hours in total, effectively solving the pain point of parents’ time-consuming and labor-intensive transportation of their children to class. In terms of teaching staff, there are currently more than 30,000 foreign teachers in North America providing online English teaching services to students around the world, with an average teaching experience of 7.5 years. All of them have bachelor’s degrees or above, and many of them have ivy league backgrounds, including Columbia University, Duke University, Harvard University, Brown University and Stanford University.

Dr. Zhong Yunqin, Key Laboratory of Big Data Mining and Knowledge Management, Chinese Academy of Sciences, believes that the follow-up survey in recent years shows that the extensive online education service model is gradually losing its appeal and its business growth is obviously limited; The high-quality personalized Internet education platform pays more attention to the inherent development law of education, and creatively combines new educational concepts, teaching models, artificial intelligence, big data and other technical means to better meet the needs of users in the new era for personalized education. The global rise of domestic online education brands represented by VIPKID caters to this trend and explores new ideas for future educational innovation.

The average age of online students is 6 years old, and the number of people in East China accounts for over 30%.

The combination of the Internet and traditional education has given birth to a brand-new business scene. Teachers and students are no longer bound by geographical constraints, and students may connect with excellent educational resources around the world without leaving home. At present, the number of paid students on the VIPKID platform exceeds 200,000, covering 35 countries and regions around the world. Japan, the United States and Canada are the three countries with the largest number of overseas students on this platform. Generally speaking, online education has shown strong portability and is becoming an important means for children to learn English all over the world.

From the domestic market, first-tier cities such as Beishangguangshen and Shenzhen have become the main force in the online children’s English education market, and the three major regions of North China, East China and South China, which radiate from this, account for 81% of the overall market. Among them, the number of students in East China accounts for the highest proportion, with a share of 36%. North China and South China followed closely with 27% and 18% respectively. Compared with other regions, parents in coastal and economically developed areas are more receptive to online education mode and more willing to cultivate their children’s English ability from an early age.

According to the market survey, the Chinese Academy of Sciences shows that the domestic online children’s English education market is still in an early stage after only four years of development. In terms of market share, the top three companies at present are VIPKID, 51Talk and vipJr, which account for more than 80% of the market, of which VIPKID accounts for 55% of the domestic market; In terms of the number of foreign teachers, there are more than 30,000 foreign teachers working on the VIPKID platform, which exceeds the total number of foreign teachers of all other online education brands in China.

In major cities, the number of VIPKID students in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Chengdu occupies the top five. This is roughly consistent with the search distribution results of "VIPKID" in Baidu Index. It is worth noting that the students in two quasi-first-tier cities, Hangzhou and Chengdu, are growing rapidly, pushing Guangzhou, which ranked fourth in 2016, to sixth place. Cities such as Nanjing, Wuhan, Dalian and Chongqing also entered the TOP10.

At present, children’s English learning in China tends to be younger. From the perspective of urban distribution, the average age of students in first-tier cities is generally around 6 years old, and the average age of students in second-tier cities has slightly risen to 6.5 years old. The survey also shows that more and more parents begin to consider English education before their children are 3 years old.

Online mode helps parents in China save 146 million hours a year.

Driven by the deepening economic and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, the maturity of internet education technology and application, and the reform of English teaching, the online English education model for children has been recognized by more and more families and parents. Among them, parents in first-tier cities such as Beishangguang have fully realized that online education is an effective way to quickly improve their children’s English listening and speaking level, and the related cognition of parents in second-tier cities has also been significantly improved. In contrast, parents in third-and fourth-tier cities are still relatively vague about the concept of Internet education, and the market needs more patient cultivation.

The data shows that users in the online children’s English market have strong spending power, and middle-class families with an annual income of 200,000-1 million account for 58%. Most parents said that they would spend more than 10,000 yuan on their children’s English education every year. Despite the high cost, most families still think that online English education has remarkable learning effect and high cost performance.

According to the survey data of a large number of parents by Chinese Academy of Sciences, the phenomenon that many parents passively choose Asian foreign teachers is changing under the previous insufficient supply. At present, 73.6% of parents prefer to choose foreign teachers in North America for three reasons: foreign teachers in North America have purer accents and more lively teaching methods, and North America is the first choice for their children to study abroad. 22.1% parents tend to choose British or Australian foreign teachers, while only 4.3% are willing to choose Asian (Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia) foreign teachers.

In online children’s English learning, after-class evaluation is a very important part of the evaluation of learning effect. At present, the number of foreign teachers on the VIPKID platform exceeds 30,000, and the total number of evaluations by users after class exceeds 5 million, and each foreign teacher receives an average of 167 evaluations. Foreign teachers with five-star praise are more favored by parents, and foreign churches with bad reviews are quickly eliminated by the market. A tripartite feedback mechanism between parents, North American foreign teachers and online platforms is taking shape. In terms of specific dimensions, "paying attention to pronunciation", "being patient and friendly" and "being good at guiding" are the three evaluation keywords that parents are most concerned about, and the number of evaluations related to each keyword exceeds 1 million.

The rise of online English education mode highlights many disadvantages of traditional offline mode. According to the survey of offline traditional mode, 85% parents complain that it takes time and effort to pick up and drop off their children, which is particularly prominent in first-tier cities. Many parents spend far more time on picking up and dropping off their children than the class hours themselves. 68% of parents think that the level of offline foreign teachers is uneven and the choice space is extremely limited; 61% parents think that offline mode is not conducive to systematically understanding their children’s learning progress; 49% parents think that there is too little interaction in offline large class mode; 28% of parents said that their children are not interested in learning in offline institutions.

Online education allows more and more children to enjoy North American English education without leaving home, which saves parents a lot of time. The survey shows that parents in big cities spend an average of more than 2.5 hours on picking up and waiting for a class for their children, and the average time spent in small and medium-sized cities is about 1.8 hours.

At present, VIPKID has 100,000 online courses every day, which exceeds 50% of the total online courses of the same kind in China. Calculated by saving 2 hours per class, online mode saved about 146 million hours for parents in China. Even according to the walking distance, it saves parents in China nearly 730 million kilometers a year, which is equivalent to 18,250 laps around the equator of the earth. Switching to car transport calculation will help China families save about 650,000 tons of gasoline consumption every year.

The data shows that when children adapt to the online mode, 82% of online children’s English learners complete their classes independently without their parents’ company. At the same time, parents are more willing to learn about their children’s learning at any time with the help of classroom video playback and real-time class monitoring system. More than 87% parents have used the course playback function within one month, including 13% parents who work in different places or travel, who have used the real-time class monitoring function within one month.

Because the online children’s English learners are generally young, and the teaching pays more attention to the improvement of English comprehensive ability such as expression, parents’ feedback on the effect is lagging behind. VIPKID class data shows that in the first five classes, parents think that the effective curve grows more slowly; With the deepening of the course, the growth rate of the feedback result curve is obviously improved, and the maximum growth rate is ushered in in the 20 th section; Since then, parents’ satisfaction has shown a continuous growth trend.

Among the extracurricular reading materials of online children’s English education, excellent picture books are more popular with children. On the VIPKID open class platform, the TOP5 five are all excellent picture books, including popular science, fairy tales, humanities and other topics. In terms of reading habits, it becomes an open class collective "movie-watching day" for parents of students every Friday night.

The average teaching experience of foreign teachers in North America is 7.5 years, and the master’s degree is over 30%

According to the data of foreign teachers from VIPKID, the foreign teachers in North America engaged in online children’s English education are mainly concentrated in the eastern part of the United States, followed by the central part of the United States, the western part of the United States and the southeastern part of Canada. In terms of specific states, Texas in central China ranks first in the number of foreign teachers, followed by Florida, Utah, Georgia and California, the largest state in the United States.

Among the TOP10 cities in North America, Orlando, a city in central Florida, has the largest number of foreign teachers, and Chicago and Houston rank second and third, with a small gap with Orlando. As the sole representative of Canadian cities, Toronto ranks fourth.

According to the data of VIPKID foreign teachers, the number of foreign teachers in North America who have been teaching for more than 5 years accounts for 70%, with an average teaching experience of 7.5 years. Among them, foreign teachers with 10-20 years of teaching experience account for 25%, and foreign teachers with more than 20 years of teaching experience account for 7%. In terms of academic qualifications, all foreign teachers in North America have bachelor’s degrees or above, of which 30% are masters and 2% are doctors. From the data of appointment, foreign teachers with longer teaching experience are more popular with parents, and foreign teachers with active expressive force are also deeply loved; It is worth noting that the number of male foreign teachers only accounts for 10% of the total, and the demand for classes is in short supply.

The Internet education model has enabled foreign teachers who graduated from top universities in the world to enter China families. The data shows that among the more than 30,000 North American foreign teachers, there are many graduates from American Ivy League and well-known universities, including Columbia University, Duke University, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, Brown University and Stanford University. These foreign teachers with prestigious backgrounds cover pedagogy, psychology, special education, literature, sociology and economics.

The survey shows that the focus of foreign teachers in North America in the process of online teaching is first to improve their self-skills, followed by a sense of accomplishment and educational public welfare, and finally to improve their income and cross-cultural communication experience. With its mature teacher training system, VIPKID continues to empower foreign teachers, thus becoming the most popular online children’s English education platform for foreign teachers in North China in 2017, and surpassing Amazon to become the first in the list of the most popular telecommuting platforms in the United States, which also highlights the unique attraction of online education in for foreign teachers.

The rapid development of online children’s English industry allows foreign teachers to freely choose various teaching platforms. When choosing a teaching platform, foreign teachers in North America first look at the number of students on the platform, followed by the degree of technical stability and whether the course content is easy to teach and learn; In addition, the popularity of the platform and the teaching atmosphere are also important factors affecting foreign teachers in North America. At present, in the major social networking sites in the United States, the popularity of VIPKID far exceeds that of 51Talk and vipJr, which rank second and third.

Online mode promotes education and benefits a large number of rural primary schools.

The Internet has enabled a large number of high-quality educational resources to cover children in poor areas in China in a short period of time, and various online education platforms in China have launched various public welfare activities. "VIPKID" has been extended to 100 rural schools since it started on September 12, 2017. These schools are located in 21 provinces in China, with Yunnan, Gansu and Guizhou accounting for the largest proportion.

Compared with the trend of younger students in cities, English education in rural areas generally started late. According to the 100 rural schools covered by "VIPKID", most rural children’s English education begins after the third grade. The combination of online education and public welfare has enabled more North American foreign teachers to enter rural classrooms. Among the 3,745 students covered by the VIPKID public welfare project, 92% said that they were exposed to foreign teachers for the first time.

With the help of online education mode, the plight of weak and limited English teachers in rural schools has been quickly improved. "VIPKID foreign teachers from North America enter the rural classroom" only took one month, and the average completion rate jumped from the initial 78% to over 90%, and some of them have already achieved 100% completion.

For rural children, learning English faces many challenges, including the lack of local English teachers, poor English teaching materials and equipment, and parents’ insufficient attention to English education. According to the survey of rural children’s wishes, the number one in rural children’s minds is looking forward to "more foreign teachers’ classes", followed by "more picture books", and "parents pay more attention to my study", and "I can communicate in English" is also at the top of the wish list.

Beijing art center plays a new year concert to send blessings! The New Year holiday is expected to receive 12,000 spectators.

Wu Yuxia plucked the strings, and the pipa and the orchestra interwoven into the elegant and tactful "Moonlit Night on a Spring River"; Lv Siqing waved his bow, and the orchestra set off the violin, playing the broad and turbulent feelings in Zhao Jiping’s "Violin Concerto No.1" … On the afternoon of December 31, in the concert hall of Beijing Art Center, flowers surrounded the Chinese characters of "2024 New Year Concert", which reflected each other with the lingering music. Xu Zhijun, a well-known conductor, performed the National Orchestra of China Conservatory of Music, and sent a greeting to the last day of 2023 with China’s well-known works such as Festival Overture and Yao Dance Music.

Although the New Year Concert is an imported form of performance, from this performance, the audience Ms. Qin felt a deep feeling of China: Zhao Jiping’s "Violin Concerto No.1" played by Lv Siqing was interpreted in the form of western orchestral music, but it had a different feeling after being transplanted to national musical instruments; The musicians on the stage are dressed in ink and wash clothes, which are elegant and pleasant. What makes her even more happy is that Wu Yuxia, Lv Siqing and other famous artists performed on stage only 20 minutes by car from home. "The performances that used to be only seen in the National Grand Theatre or the Beijing Concert Hall can now be seen at home."

According to statistics, from the official opening on December 27th to 17: 00pm on December 31st, Beijing Art Center has received a total of 13,750 visitors and spectators, and the ticket sales rate of the drama "Sherlock Holmes" being performed is 99%, and the ticket sales rate of the New Year concerts on December 31st and January 1st, 2024 is over 90%. Throughout the New Year holiday, Beijing Art Center is expected to receive 12,000 visitors.

The radiation attraction and cultural cluster effect of three major cultural buildings, Beijing Art Center and City Sub-center, are emerging. Take Ms. Qin’s tour route as an example. In the morning, she took her children to visit the Beijing City Library and the Beijing Grand Canal Museum. The 9-year-old children especially liked the "Book Mountain" in the library. After finding a poetry book, she sat down and watched it quietly for two hours. In the afternoon, the mother and daughter walked into the Beijing Art Center hand in hand. "There are books and music. I believe this must be a meaningful holiday for the children."

Next, the powerful lineup of conductor Shui Lan, the British Philharmonic Orchestra and Beijing Peking Opera Theatre will be staged at the Beijing Art Center one after another. In addition, the lively canal market in public areas, diverse chamber music ensembles and the "Yi Yun Hua Zhang" National Grand Theatre Tibetan Sculpture Exhibition, which brought together more than 50 sculptures from three generations of Chinese sculptors, will continue to create a full-space, all-weather artistic experience.

Tell Dong Lu that campus football has spent tens of billions of dollars without effect, and the assessment mechanism.

Dong Lu bombarded the Football Association and campus football because the Ministry of Education invested tens of billions of dollars to build a football field. However, what fans can remember is only the pictures of children holding football in their hands and doing football exercises. Then, why is the money spent, and our campus football is far from that of Japan?

There are two reasons for this. The first one is that parents don’t support it. Why do I let my children play football? Revitalize China Football? Sorry, parents don’t have this obligation. Therefore, the football fields in most schools are empty and only used by football teams organized by schools. Can’t solve the problem of why parents should support their children to play football. No matter how much money the Ministry of Education spends, it can’t promote the development of campus football.

The second reason is the assessment mechanism. The Ministry of Education has spent money, and it is necessary to see the effect. However, if parents don’t support it, the school should find ways to make achievements, let children do football exercises with football, which is safe and there are many children participating in activities, so football exercises have become the first choice of the school. From the school’s point of view, I have met all the assessment standards recommended by the Ministry of Education. What’s wrong with me?

To sum up, the core of promoting campus football is to solve the following core problem, why parents support their children to play football. Just like a fan I met who often swore at the Football Association, he said that the Football Association did not act, the players did not work hard, and the club only saw the immediate interests. However, his children have to go to college, so all the hopes of China’s football are on other people’s children.
