Beijing, June 6 (Reporter Bai Jianfeng) The Statistical Bulletin on the Development of China’s Health Care in 2019 released by the National Health and Wellness Commission today shows that the average life expectancy of Chinese residents has increased from 77.0 years in 2018 to 77.3 years in 2019.
The total amount of medical and health resources has gradually increased, and the composition of health manpower has been further optimized. According to the Bulletin, by the end of 2019, there were 1,007,545 medical and health institutions nationwide with 8.807 million beds, and the number of beds in medical and health institutions per 1,000 population increased from 6.03 in 2018 to 6.30 in 2019. By the end of 2019, the total number of health workers in China reached 12.928 million, with 2.77 licensed (assistant) doctors and 3.18 registered nurses per 1,000 population.
The total amount of health financing has increased and the structure has been optimized, and the personal burden of residents’ medical and health expenses has been relatively reduced. According to the Bulletin, the total national health expenditure in 2019 is expected to reach 6,519.59 billion yuan, and the total per capita health expenditure is 4,656.7 yuan.
The service capacity of primary medical institutions has been steadily improved. Statistics show that in 2019, the outpatient service volume of township hospitals and community health service centers (stations) reached 2.03 billion person-times, an increase of 110 million person-times over the previous year, with an increase of 5.7%, accounting for 23.3% of the total outpatient service in China, and its proportion increased year by year.
